Airtel unlimited data plans is the latest and cheapest tariff package after MTN StartPack plan and Glo new data plans in Nigeria today. This is coming after we we discussed how to get Airtel 4.4GB Plus N2,600 Airtime for just N1,000. With recent price crash in internet data service from the telcos, Airtel Nigeria has decided to release a set of unlimited data plans for all devices.
The new Airtel unlimited data plans will give you 2GB for N200 and 6GB for N500. This is not a weekend plan, nor is it a night plan but these plans currently works both in the day and at night. However, before subscribing to it, here are some things you need to know.[irp]
Airtel Unlimited Data Plans, The Other Side
If you have ever subscribed to MTN new data tariff, you will notice that it drains faster than usual. The set of cheap Glo data newly introduced is running like it is on 2G network, so also, this new Airtel unlimited plans are no different. Below are what i observed:
- It works on all devices except the troubled Blackberry OS7. (Read: More trouble as BlackBerry Priv peforms poorly)
- Once you activate this subscription, it will automatically deactivate any existing data plan
- It only works on 2G network.
- 2GB lasts you for 14 days and 6GB lasts you for 28 days.
How to Subscribe to Airtel Unlimted Data Plans
To subscribe, load the desired Airtime to your Aitel Sim Card and dial the USSD *482#
I wonder what our telcos are thinking to launch cheap data plans that seems to be entirely not beneficial, at least to Nigerians who are data hungry – streaming, downloading, browsing. If you ask me, Glo and Airtel new data plans are meant for those who wants to chat on WhatsApp or Facebook and if you are the type that sends files across those messaging platforms, you may not enjoy this service. Not to mention the new 4G trend in Nigeria with most people already buying the latest 4G smartphones.
